GENERAL INFO

Welcome to our new club website!!!

UPDATE: 6th Aug 2022
Site is in process of being updated to latest info for club.

If you are interested in hiking, bushwalking, tramping or whatever it is you'd like to call it, you have come to the right place. Our club was started back in 1984 and conducts walks around the Bundaberg region each fortnight, as well as extended trips. We are planning more overnight treks as well so if your interested don't hestiate to get in touch!

The club’s activities include bushwalking, kayaking, overnight hikes and social events. As a club member, you’re kept up-to-date by our monthly newsletter which advertises day trips on most Sundays as well overnight trips. Visitors are most welcome.

We also venture out for extended trips of 4-14 days as well.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

August 7, 2022 - Camp Creek - Hard, m4d
12.2 km, about 5 h walking time without breaks. First off track walking in creek beds and up a steep incline, then walking on a partly very steep forestry road with wash outs and finally along Wonbah road (same gravel same tarmac) back to the car. Walking up Camp Creek to a side creek about 1 km further up from the sheep dip. Follow this side creek to its closest proximity to the forestry road (marked by a cairn) and climb out off the creek bed to the road, ca 80 m altitude, very steep. This circuit track avoids the necessity for car shuffle and at the same time avoids having to return the same way when walking in Camp Creek between all the beautiful rock pools. Meet at North State School at 6.45am. Contact Angela by text only (0447 226 854) to register.

August 7, 2022 - Lake Monuduran - easy/medium s2a
An easy walk around Lake Monduran. This is up to 8km (you can make it shorter if you wish) on a rough track with some gradient changes. Contact Mary (190 566) to register. Depart North State School at 7.30am or meet at Gin Gin at 8am.

August 13, 2022 - Hervey Bay Seafood Festival - Social Outing

August 13, 2022 - Woowoonga Circuit - Hard S4d
Note - this is a Saturday! We are lucky to have Moria Thompson now leading some walks for the club. This walk will include creek walking, bush bashing and steep sections. This is a full day walk (about 8km). Please call Moria (0458 365 051) to register and for details of where to meet.

August trip - Sandstone belt - Mary
Tag Along – join and leave as you please. Depart on or about 15th August for approx. two weeks, travelling from Bundy in an anti-clockwise direction. Day 1-2 make way to Nuga Nuga National Park. This could be done in one day. From here a rough itinerary would be 2 nights Nuga Nuga, 3 nights Lonesome N.P., ( both of these are bush camps); 1 night Injune Caravan Park, 3 nights Expedition N.P. (toilets), 2 nights Isla Gorge N.P. then home. There should be opportunities for easy and harder bushwalks in all these parks. 4WD is needed for access to Expedition N.P. August 26 - 28, 2022 - Isla Gorge Camping Trip (date corrected)
Isla Gorge is near Theodore, about 4hrs drive from Bundaberg. The plan is to drive out Friday, walk all day Saturday, some short walks Sunday morning so people can return Sunday night.
There are a few options for camping. We can stay at the national park campground (NP fees apply) where there is a drop toilet but no showers, although the view makes up for the lack of facilities. Alternatively people can stay in Theodore where there is a motel and caravan park, which is about 30 mins drive from the national park.
Depending on numbers, the plan for Satruday is a full day hard walk first descending the steep edge of the gorge to meet the creek and then climbing up to some spectacular rock formations. There are no marked walks at Isla Gorge, however there are some very spectactular rock formations around the campground which are easy/medium to explore.
Contact Lucinda (0421 011 181) to register or to enquire.

September 4, 2022 - Boolboonda Rock to Dairy Creek - Very Hard M4d
The club hasn't done this walk for many years, so it will be a little exploratory. We will climb Boolboonda Rock, and instead of going back the same way we will descend the eastern side to Dairy Creek and walk out via the creek. This will be a very long day, with very steep sections (both up and down), difficult scrub to navigate, and creek walking. This will also require a car shuffle. Contact Lucinda (0421 011 181) to register.
As this will be such a difficult walk, this will be open to club members only who have already done a hard walk with the club.
